Rented an X2 today at a Florida resort. Spent roughly 90 minutes on it, mostly on quiet roads and bike trails. It is a remarkable piece of technology. I had been on a Segway once before, in San Francisco (doing a city tour) and quickly picked back up the minimal skills necessary to operate it. Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience. The X2 is very maneuverable, fast, quiet, and fun to ride. The only downsides: (1) you really don't get much exercise--probably better to be riding a bike, from that perspective. And (2) my back got stiff standing up for so long. But I would definitely rent it again. Now buying one--probably not, for the reasons mentioned above.
