For power, PMW is introducing a new 4 port, 4 HP, high compression, high RPM 41.5cc 2 stroke engine . This purpose designed engine becomes PMW's top of the line performer of its production gas powered scooter line-up. Power delivery is through a single reduction pocket bike style chain system with 78mm automatic centrifugal clutch . Though the aftermarket selection is already great, the stock sprocket ratio was chosen to deliver the best bottom end for this combination. This produces absolutely the highest fun factor in trail riding for this scooter. Chain adjustment uses PMW's patent pending adjustable motor mount system found on many of its other very successful and race proven products. Its Chromoly single tube frame, reinforced aircraft grade 6061-T6 folding handlebar system with Tim Patmont bend bars (like on the TSi) contribute to making the Go-Ped Trail Ripper 46 a very light weight device. Combined with its truly revolutionary C.I.D.L.I. suspension, it is not only very practical but creates a new way to have a high level of safe off road low cost FUN.

The latest addition to the Go-Ped line, the Trail Ripper gas-powered competition scooter sets a new benchmark for power and speed in the motorized stand-up scooter market. The Trail Ripper boasts never-before-seen power and stunning speed, yet it remains true to the lightweight Go-Ped tradition, weighing in at only 35 pounds. The scooter is powered by the same motor as the fearless Trail Ripper GTR46, with a patent-pending centrifugal clutch chain-drive mechanism geared at 6:76, 4.2 horsepower of power, and 2.31 foot-pounds of torque. Tunable, it can even reach 5.5-plus horsepower and 2.6-plus foot-pounds of torque with the addition of an after-market expansion chamber.

All of Patmont Motor Werks finest racing components come standard with the Go-Ped GTR46R: a heavy-duty 4130 Chromyl steel frame and double-sided fork, pneumatic TT tires mounted with magnesium rims, and 20-inch motorcycle-style "Tim Patmont bend" racing handlebars fitted with a slide tube clamp and pro control levers. The front and rear Mad Dog disc brakes, meanwhile, offer excellent braking performance that's perfectly matched for the power output of the scooter.

Available in four powder-coated colors--gloss black, championship orange, Ferrari red, and Beach Boy blue, The Trail Ripper reaches speeds of up to 30 miles per hour and offers a weight capacity of 400 pounds.

4.0 out of 5 stars The engine tears this scooter apart, if proper care is not taken., May 31, 2011

The engine is way too powerful for this scooter. If you wide open throttle it (WOT) out of the box, something IS going to bust. There is a "break-in" period on this scooter, you need to ride it well below 20mph for about 3-4 tanks of fuel, and NEVER WOT during this "break-in" period.

Other things to remember about this scooter:

- The bars have a tendency to become wobbly. If this happens, simply hand tighten the large washer on the bottom of the handlebars, where the handlebar pole connects to the frame.

- Always mix gas & oil as exactly as you can, as described in the owner's manual. Too lean (not enough oil) or to rich (too much oil) will ruin the engine.

- After you break in the engine (like I described earlier), have a professional small engines shop tune the carb for you. This will offer the most power and efficiency for the altitude and climate you live in. Be sure to tell them what gas/oil mixture you are running through it so...Read more

These are some pretty bad reviews below! Purchased a display model which happened to be the 420 top end. Top end seized on me which was an earlier issue with this engine. Got my hands on a used 460 top end(46cc) and put about 10 miles(3/4 tank of gas and a top speed of 35mph) on it last weekend. Rode so hard I later realized I snaped off the engine protect bar.
This is a toy that requires hands on for engine care. Correct fuel mixture and good quality 2-cycle oil. It should also be considered a hobby toy; like flying remote planes. Your going to have to adjust the carb jets replace parts and modify things. If its sitting in your garage not running its because you have no small engine skills at all.
Join a forum and buy a tool set--you dont give this to a mechanic(the clutch shoes and springs are fairly simple to get at and change--go online and watch a video!

I have always wanted a GoPed and finally purchased a Trail Ripper. The fit and finish on these are really nice, the engine has been very reliable so long as you do not abuse it. The one problem that I've consistently had has been the chain, it is simply too small for an off road type machine. The chain on the Ripper is actually a cam timing chain(part number is KMC25H).

A cam chain is meant to exists in the enclosed and relatively clean environment of an engine case. Inside the engine case, it is constantly bathed in oil for lubrication. The GoPed's chain is actually the same cam chain used in the on the Honda ATC 70(3 Wheeler) and newer TRX 70 (Quad). These are tiny 70cc machines. Research the CT70, look at the engine size and imagine how small the timing chain must be. The box the chain comes in is about 3/4 the size of an iPhone. That's small.

Running a cam chain in an exposed/wet/dry/dirty environment will never work very well and here's why. Simply...Read more
