This new Currie Electro-Drive Conversion Kit transforms a standard bicycle into an electric powered ride for power-assisted biking. The kit features Currie's patented Electro-Drive System with a 450-watt brushed side-mount motor with rear wheel drive. The space-efficient rack mounted battery pack system also houses all of the motor control electronics. The kit includes one 24-volt/10-Ah battery pack and a Currie Smart charger to recharge the pack. The rack also has a second slot that allows you to insert a second, optional battery pack if you want to double your travel range.
Installation and Compatibility: Designed for easy installation, the Power Kit is compatible with most 26-inch wheel mountain or comfort style bicycles (Please note: the kit cannot be fitted on bikes with a rear suspension swingarm). The drive wheel is spaced for a standard 7-speed freewheel that is common on many bikes today. If the bike that you are planning on converting has something other then a 7-speed freewheel, the kit may still be fitted. However, Currie strongly recommends that the conversion be made by an authorized Currie Dealer.

Recently purchased this kit to help with some of the hills we have here in Dayton OH. I use my bike for commuting. I installed the kit on a used full suspension mountain bike. I purchased a new Shimano Tourney 7Spd 14-28T Freewheel to go with it as well as a heavy duty kickstand. I recommend you do the same. Installation took a couple of hours since the kit isn't really made for this type of bike. If you are not mechanically talented you should probably find help from someone who is because installation is necessarily flexible to fit as many bikes as possible. Tools needed are wrenches to fit your bike, a set of metric Allen wrenches, #2 Phillips screwdriver and tire tools. I won't go into details as the manual is here:

Electric Bike Conversion,

The kit came complete. Instructions were more pictures than instruction, but most of the installation was obvious. Some of the hardware was too short and not strong enough. had to buy machine bolts to substitute. Once the installation was complete, the bike rode great. Its exactly what I was looking for. An electric bike conversion to a bike I already own.
